Technology:
PolyFlav is a technology that infuses flavor into plastic without disrupting the current manufacturing process. Plastic made using PolyFlav holds flavor and scent for over a year!
The flavor is not coated on the exterior of the plastic. It is actually in the molecular structure of the plastic and is slowly released through the plastic by diffusion. The polymers of flavor that are in the plastic function as carriers and the flavor diffuses out from the polymer to the surface. PolyFlav is used as a masterbatch or as an additive.
Key features of the technology include:
- Diffusion: The polymer functions as a carrier and the flavorant diffuses out from the polymer to the surface. This is a breakthrough that allows flavor to “regenerate” after use, which allows for long lasting flavor. Please see flavor duration for further information.
- Migration: The rate at which flavor migrates to the surface allows for renewed flavor at the surface and a long shelf life.
- Thermostability: Breakthroughs in the thermostability of material contained in the product allows for integration into resins with high molding temperatures and denser structures. Please see Resins for further information.
